Upcoming Adoption Dates

Adopt-A-Thon is here!
Maplewood PetSmart Store

Friday September 12; 4-7 pm
Saturday September 13; 11 am - 3 pm
Sunday September 174 11 am - 3 pm

The Adopt-A-Thon is a special time for St. Francis Animal Rescue. Not only does it provide extra days for you to come and meet what could be your new family pet, but PetSmart Charities donates a monetary amount to St. Francis for each animal that finds a home during the Adopt-A-Thon.

So, if you are looking for that perfect pet to add to your family, the Adopt-A-Thon is the time to do it. You get a wonderful bundle of fur to love and St. Francis gets a little extra cash to help rescue more homeless pets!

Adopt a "Senior" Dog

Dogs are generally considered "senior" at seven years of age, even if they haven't started to slow down, or show any signs of aging.

Many "seniors" still have years of play left, some as many as another eight years. Unfortunately the "senior" tag will put off a lot of people who aren't familiar with more mature dogs. Senior dogs are a wonderful addition to most dog homes. Don't let their age stop you, there are many advantages to adopting an older dog. For example:

  • The exhausting energy of a younger dog has burnt itself out, and left behind a comfortable, content dog, who will still enjoy many romps, just at more appropriate times.

  • You can spend most of your time just enjoying your adult dog's companionship, without the hassles of puppy teething, nipping, and housebreaking.

  • Chances are you won't have to worry about training, other than occasional "reminders and reinforcement" as your older, adopted dog may be already trained.

Check out this website for more great information on the many reasons to adopt an older dog!
